PrimeReach Consulting adds e-commerce and procurement capabilities

The expansion pairs storefront and digital commerce work with procurement and supplier technology, reflecting how retail and distribution clients now plan the two together.

PrimeReach Consulting has expanded its operational excellence practice to include dedicated e-commerce and procurement capabilities, an addition it says reflects how clients in retail, distribution and manufacturing now plan front-end commerce and back-end sourcing as a single problem rather than two.

The firm's consultants had been picking up this kind of work informally for some time; the new capabilities give it a formal name and a repeatable delivery approach.

Why commerce and procurement are converging

Clients increasingly want visibility that runs from supplier onboarding through to the checkout experience, particularly where inventory promises made on a storefront depend on procurement systems that were never built to expose real-time data externally. PrimeReach Consulting says its new capability is built around that end-to-end view rather than treating e-commerce platform work and procurement system work as separate engagements run by separate teams.

This matters operationally because a poorly integrated procurement layer tends to surface as a customer-facing problem: stock-outs, delayed fulfilment, and pricing that does not reflect actual supplier terms. Fixing it from the commerce side alone rarely holds.

What clients can expect

Engagements under the new capability will typically start with a joint diagnostic across commerce and procurement systems, rather than a scoped e-commerce platform project that discovers procurement gaps midway through delivery. PrimeReach Consulting says this sequencing has already reduced rework on the engagements where it applied the approach informally.

The addition rounds out the operational excellence practice at a point where clients are less interested in point solutions and more interested in consultancies that can see a supply chain and a storefront as one connected system.
